Weekly lessons in Burnham

How lessons feel

Some children need to fill a gap quickly. Others are aiming high and want to be stretched. Some simply learn better when nobody else is in the room. Whatever the reason, 1-to-1 lessons give your child real, focused attention, with every minute spent on what they need next.

Structured Weekly Plans

Every session follows a structured plan targeting your child's specific knowledge gaps, not random revision.

Individual 1-to-1 Tuition

Individual 1-to-1 tuition is available. Your child gets real, focused attention, not lost in a classroom of 30.

Weekly Parent Updates

Parents receive weekly progress updates. You always know exactly where your child stands.

What 1-to-1 tuition with us looks like

Every programme follows the same four-stage method, shaped around one student:

  1. Diagnose. We find out precisely what your child can already do and where the gaps are, rather than starting at chapter one.
  2. A structured weekly plan. Lessons follow a written plan, so each week builds on the last.
  3. Exam strategy. Technique is taught alongside content: timing, command words, mark schemes and how to check answers.
  4. A feedback loop. You hear how things are going, and the plan changes when your child's needs change.

Is 1-to-1 tuition right for my child?

It often suits children in one of these situations:

  • Catching up. A missed topic or a shaky foundation can be found and fixed without waiting for the rest of a class.
  • Stretching ahead. Confident students can move faster and go deeper than a set pace allows.
  • Building confidence. Quieter children often ask more questions when it's just them and their tutor.
  • Preparing for a specific exam. In the months before the 11+, GCSEs, A-Levels or an admissions test, every lesson can target what that exam rewards.

If you're unsure, the consultation is the place to talk it through. We'd rather suggest a lighter start, or tell you that your child is already on track, than recommend lessons they don't need.

Your first step: the free 30-minute consultation

The consultation is a relaxed conversation about your child: their year group, subjects, school and any exams coming up. If the school has sent home recent reports or test results, bring them along, because they help us see the full picture. You'll leave knowing what we'd suggest and why. There's no charge for the consultation, and no minimum contract if you go ahead.

Your child's plan within 48 hours

Within 48 hours of the consultation, you'll receive a personalised plan. It sets out the topics to cover first, the skills to build and how lessons will be paced. Because the plan is written down, you can see exactly what your child is working on and why.

Weekly lessons and progress updates for parents

Lessons take place every week, which keeps learning steady instead of rushed. After lessons, parents receive progress updates: what was covered, what went well and what comes next. If something isn't clicking, we'll tell you, and we'll adjust the plan rather than carry on regardless.

Can my child have lessons with Dr Khan?

Sessions with Dr Khan himself can be booked depending on his availability. Ask about this when you book, and we'll tell you honestly what's possible. Otherwise, your child is taught by one of our wider team of tutors, all trained in Dr Khan's method, so the approach is the same whoever teaches the lesson.

1-to-1 tuition at every level

Getting the most from each lesson

1-to-1 tuition works best when home and centre pull in the same direction. Short practice tasks between lessons keep new skills fresh, and your child's school homework and test results help us see what's happening in class. If your child mentions a topic that worried them at school, let us know and we'll fit it in.

In person in Burnham or online

Lessons take place at our centre on Burnham High Street. If your child prefers learning from home, online sessions are available and follow the same plan.

Families we teach

The centre is within easy reach of Burnham, Lent Rise, Hitcham, Cippenham, Britwell, Haymill, Taplow, Dorney and Farnham Royal. We're about 3.5 road miles from Slough town centre and 3.9 from Maidenhead town centre. If you've been searching for private tutors for Slough families, or simply for 1 to 1 tuition near me, we're a short drive away.

No long contract

There's no minimum contract. We do recommend committing to a full term, because that gives the plan time to show results, but the choice is yours.
