Weekly lessons in Burnham
How lessons feel
These three neighbourhoods sit just east of Burnham, on the Slough borough side of the boundary. That makes us closer than many parents expect: for most homes here, the drive is under 10 minutes. Below, you'll find each neighbourhood in turn, then the 11+ choice that families here share, and how lessons work from Year 4 right through to Year 13.
Structured Weekly Plans
Every session follows a structured plan targeting your child's specific knowledge gaps, not random revision.
Individual 1-to-1 Tuition
Individual 1-to-1 tuition is available. Your child gets real, focused attention, not lost in a classroom of 30.
Weekly Parent Updates
Parents receive weekly progress updates. You always know exactly where your child stands.

Tuition for Cippenham families
From Cippenham, the centre is about 2.3 road miles away, roughly 6 minutes by car. The usual route runs up Elmshott Lane, along a short stretch of the A4 Bath Road, then via Huntercombe Lane North and Stomp Road into Burnham High Street.
Local schools include Cippenham School on Elmshott Lane, Western House Academy on Richards Way and The Westgate School on Cippenham Lane, which has a sixth form. We mention them as neighbours only, not as schools we work with. Cippenham covers a large area, so a few homes on its eastern edge are a little further, at around 3 road miles.
Tuition for Britwell families
Britwell is about 1.8 road miles from the centre, roughly 5 minutes' drive. Most families come via Farnham Lane, Britwell Road and Hogfair Lane, then Lincoln Hatch Lane, passing close to Burnham Grammar School on the way.
Britwell's schools include Lynch Hill School Primary Academy on Garrard Road, Claycots School on Monksfield Way and Beechwood School on Long Readings Lane, which has a sixth form. Again, we name them only because local children attend them.
Tuition for Haymill families
Haymill is the closest of the three, about 1.2 road miles or 4 minutes away. The quickest route is Haymill Road, Lower Britwell Road and Windsor Lane, straight into the High Street.
Our Lady of Peace Catholic Primary School on Derwent Drive and Priory School on Orchard Avenue are both about half a mile from the centre, and Lynch Hill sits between Haymill and Britwell. As with the other schools on this page, there's no connection between them and us.
Which 11+ can children here sit?
Both. Cippenham, Britwell and Haymill are part of Slough borough, so local children can sit the Slough Consortium test for Herschel, Langley, St Bernard's Catholic and Upton Court grammar schools. Families must register for it; there's no automatic entry.
Children here can also sit the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test. Because Slough primaries aren't Bucks state primaries, they aren't entered automatically, so parents register them. According to Buckinghamshire Council's timeline for September 2028 entry, registration runs in May and June 2027, ahead of a test in early September. The Slough Consortium hasn't yet published its 2027 dates.
Burnham Grammar School is only 0.3 miles from our centre. Places there follow its own admissions policy, so read it carefully before relying on it; our Burnham Grammar School 11+ guide explains how entry works. For test detail, see our guides to the Slough 11+ and the Bucks 11+, or the overview on our 11+ tuition page.
One test, or both?
Families here often ask whether it's worth sitting both tests. There's no single right answer, but the practical differences help:
| Slough Consortium test | Bucks Secondary Transfer Test | |
|---|---|---|
| Schools | Four Slough grammar schools | Buckinghamshire's 13 grammar schools |
| Entry | Register (no automatic entry) | Register (no automatic entry for Slough primaries) |
| Score that counts | 111 for eligibility | 121 to qualify |
| Papers | Two papers: verbal and non-verbal reasoning, English and maths, set by Quest Assessments from 2027 | Two multiple-choice papers of about 60 minutes each, set by GL Assessment |
Sitting both keeps more options open, but it also means two registrations and two test days in the same few weeks. At the consultation we'll talk through which schools you're realistically considering and how your child copes with timed papers, then suggest a plan that fits.
When to start preparing
Most families begin in Year 4 or Year 5. Registration for both tests falls in the summer term of Year 5, and the tests themselves come at the very start of Year 6, so it helps to know your plans by spring. Starting earlier isn't about cramming: it gives time to build reading, vocabulary and arithmetic gradually, with less pressure in the final months.
KS3, GCSE and A-Level tuition
After the 11+, our KS3 tuition helps children in Years 7 to 9 close gaps before GCSE, which is especially useful in Year 9, when GCSE options are chosen and foundations need to be secure. At GCSE we teach maths, English and the sciences, and our A-Level tuition supports sixth-formers, including students at local sixth forms such as The Westgate School and Beechwood School. Each student follows a personalised weekly plan.
1-to-1 and online lessons
Any level can be taught 1-to-1. Online sessions are available too, using the same plan as lessons at the centre; ask at your free consultation whether they would suit your child and the subjects they need.
